I live in Providence, RI. It’s a great town in its own quirky way, but I often get frustrated by the lack of progress here. It seems there is always a new plan or idea for the city and, apparently, money to do it, yet nothing happens. Beyond the deep tunnel intended to solve the combined sewer overflow problems in the state, I have not seen many plans reach the “implementation” stage. To be completely fair, I have not lived here for very long and the city has been heavily improved over the last 20 years.
AND this is something that is actually happening: mini/micro apartments are being built in an old mall in Providence. The more I learn about mini and micro apartments and the more I study urbanism and sustainability, the more in favor of them I get. Check these out- they aren’t so bad! If I was sticking around this town I would definitely look into them. What great reuse of old and unused space! I just hope they updated the pipes…
